Rick
Diaz Returns To Lake Tahoe
Singer/songwriter,
Rick Diaz will return to Lake Tahoe to perform at the John Denver
Tribute, Dancing With The Mountains. The event will be held at
the Tahoe Valley Campground Resort in South Lake Tahoe. The main
performance will be on Saturday Aug.26th, 2006. Rick’s
concert will begin at 4:00 P.M. Diaz is best known in the Tahoe
area for his seasonal hit recording “My Christmas Wish For
You”. A part time Tahoe resident, Rick has appeared in the
past at Harrah’s Tahoe and at The Olympic Village in Squaw
Valley. “I’m very honored to be part of this event
along with the other performers, which include Joel Hannel, Bill
Lanham, Mark Cormian, and Chris Collins. I had the pleasure of
meeting John twice. The first time was here in Tahoe, back stage
at Harrah’s. It was awesome!” he recalls.
John
Denver was a major influence on me, growing up as a kid. I have
copies of his Christmas Specials. I watch them over again, every
year. The song Saguaro Moon which I wrote with James Burton, was
composed in the middle of a J.D. tour. We were in Vegas at the
time. I’ll be doing songs off my new CD Americana, as well
as from the Saguaro Moon album. I will also be performing a handful
of John’s hits. One song in particular “The Lady of
the Lake”, a number I wrote about my on going love affair
with Lake Tahoe, has a strong Denver influence. I’m planning
on recording this and doing a music video up here, as well. There
will be only one John Denver. But, I do carry on with his belief
and respect for the environment and world peace. I performed in
Aspen, CO back in 1998, at a tribute for John. I didn’t know
him well. But thru my friendship with James, I did learn a lot
about him. His passing had a profound effect on me. He was truly
a gift form God!
I
guess it’s safe to say. That the effect Aspen had on John,
Lake Tahoe has played a similar role in my life. I have family
and friends here. This is also where I met my manager Bob McClure,
James Burton, Glen Campbell, Bill Kingman, Carl Jackson and Brian
Farnon, who became good friends of mine, over the years. One of
my most cherished memories, is having my Palomino mare, Dixie,
up here one summer. I worked as a tour guide in Squaw Valley. She
was the queen of the valley. We had a blast! I got my first paid
singing engagement as well! Tahoe is never far from my heart,
mind and thoughts. As you can tell, I’m very excited to be
coming back home! “Rick said enthusiastically”.
